Conventional Treatment for Nasal Problems

   Detailed treatment methods are described below for the conventional treatments;

1.     Persistent cold or flu

2.    Acute Sinusitis

3.    Paranasal Sinusitis

4.    Chronic Sinusitis, Chronic Paranasal Sinusitis

5.    Others; Allergic Sinus symptoms, Hypertrophic rhinitis, Ozena (bad smell)

Generally, sinus problems are caused by inflammation of the mucous membranes. Nasal inflammation is either bacterial or allergic. Bacterial inflammation in the sinus cavity is often caused by flu or cold.  When the cold symptoms persist for a long period, they become chronic bacterial inflammation, often leading to hypertrophic rhinitis, ozena, nasal drip, facial pain, nasal blocking, sticky mucous discharge or migraine. Some bacterial sinus sufferers with allergic genes often have allergic rhinitis such as pollen allergy and are hypersensitive in the nasal cavity. If left untreated, then it will become chronic sinusitis. The prompt treatment with gauze and nebulizer will be the most effective at such a stage.

How do we
distinguish bacterial from allergic?

Bacterial rhinitis often starts just  about the time you thought you had recovered from the flu or cold. Symptoms include facial pains, quantities of mucous discharge, and green sticky mucus. Sometimes it includes headache.
Allergic rhinitis has causes such as pollen, dust mite, or chemical substance. The symptoms include nasal blockage and mucous fluid discharge.

Although this symptoms is not severe, sometimes it includes redness in the membrane around the eyes. Pollen allergy is often found among those who are genetically allergic and who caught cold which persisted for a long time. Contacts with flower pollens then trigger the allergy. I consider it is due to the fact
that
mucous membranes have been damaged by the bacterial nasal inflammation and its defences were weak when hit by the pollen allergy. Therefore treating the mucous membrane is essential to cure the pollen allergy and nasal hypersensitivity.

However, most of the symptoms can be well managed and cured by conducting the Gauze Remedy.

The above is my theory based on my research over the years. I welcome any  discussion or consultation on the matter.

Treatment for bacterial nasal inflammation (rhinitis)

            1For persistent cold or flu

Symptoms:      general cold or flu symptoms include fever, joint ache, nasal congestion and mucous discharge. The membranes in the nose and throat are damaged by the flu virus, causing fever, inflammation, cough, nasal drip, headache, joint ache, diarrhoea.  If the fever, mucous discharge and cough persist four or five days after the onset of the illness, it indicates inflammation in the nose and throat as the aftereffect of the common cold syndrome. The symptoms are usually diagnosed as acute bacterial infection. If left untreated, they can develop into chronic bacterial disease in the nose and throat. If the symptoms continue for more than a week, the same treatment used for bacterial infections or acute nasal inflammation, bronchitis, and pharyngitis should be started.

Treatment Method

      a)      The early treatment for cold syndrome is to give the body sufficient rest and plenty of fluid, as well as administering an antipyretic. If the condition is severe, wash the nose with our nasal irrigator to rid of the discomfort. If fever exists, you may need to see a physician and get an antibiotic medicine prescribed for oral use.

b)
Giving a nasal nebulizer treatment described here, often eases the condition. Apply the nozzle of the nebulizer to a nostril and switch on for two minutes* in case of a mild case, for three minutes* for a severe case. Conduct the treatment once or twice a day. Continue until the symptoms cease. Use the antibiotic solution used for the gauze remedy but ensure the solution is well blended.

Notes
1)

If the conditions still persist, read the next section For Acute nasal inflammation (rhinitis / sinusitis)and conduct the gauze remedy.
 2)

If the following allergic reactions are apparent, immediately stop using the nebulizer; Itchiness of the nasal membrane, Series of sneezes, Nasal congestion, Quantities of mucous discharge, Coughing from the stimuli in the throat, Difficulty in breathing.
 3)

Use of a nebulizer with the antibiotic solution at an early stage of cold syndrome will cause an adverse effect. Wait for at least four or five days after
the onset of the flu or cold
, while influenza virus is active, before using the nebulizer. When the superior air pathway’s membranes are inflamed by a flu virus, the antibiotic stimulates the membrane and makes the conditions worse
4)

Ensure that nasal nebulizer does not trigger allergic reactions.
The first time user should test the nebulizer for 10 seconds. Wait for 30 to 45 minutes and if there is no severe coughing or abnormal breathing, then use the nebulizer for the specified duration of time.

            2)   For Acute nasal inflammation (rhinitis / sinusitis)

Symptoms:
Acute nasal inflammation is basically the after-effects of cold syndrome. The nasal membrane is inflamed and the nose is blocked. At the start, the nose feels itchiness and has quantities of watery mucous discharge. Later the watery mucus becomes sticky and green, and falls into the throat causing coughing and phlegm. When the condition persists and becomes chronic, the patient’s sense of smell is reduced. If the inflammation spreads, it becomes a paranasal sinusitis, symptoms of which include a heavy quantity of green sticky mucous discharge, headache, reduced sense of smell and bad smelling mucus.

The most effective way to conduct the gauze remedy is to  1) wash the nose, 2) gauze remedy, and use 3) nebulizer in that order.

Treatment Method:

a)  Wash nose - If the nose is blocked due to the sticky green mucus, wash the nose with our nose washer with one litre of warmed saline solution to body temperature. Once the sinus cavity is unblocked and cleaned, the medicine can reach the affected area properly and respond to it well.

Check the condition of your nasal cavity:
- Does the water come back of the same nostril?
- Does pus or  abscess come out?  (Once your cavity starts healing back towards healthy membranes, the water will go over to the other nostril, and  come out of the mouth.)
Proceed to b) below.
If the symptoms persist, start
the gauze remedy. The condition will be promptly improved as the antibiotic solution on the gauze works directly on the wounds of the inflammation.

b)  Put a 0.5% antibiotic solution ("the most effective antibiotic for sinus problems" by our findings) in the nebulizer cup. Ensure the solution is well blended. Apply the nozzle of the nebulizer to a nostril and switch on for two minutes* in case of a mild case, for three minutes* for a severe case. Conduct the treatment once or twice a day. Continue until the symptoms cease.

Notes
1)

if the conditions still persist, read the next section For Acut nasal inflammation (rhinitis / sinusitis)and conduct the gauze remedy.

2)

If any of the following allergic reactions are apparent,  immediately stop using the nebulizer. Wait for five or six days to make sure that the reaction symptoms disappeared and use another type of antibiotic.  Itchiness of the nasal membrane,  Series of sneezes,  Nasal congestion, Quantities of mucous discharge, Coughing from the stimuli in the throat,  Difficulty in breathing.

3)

Allergic reactions to the nebulizer treatment often occurs when the patient is genetically allergic, or has conducted the nebulizer treatment for too long and/or too many times during a day, or the medicine is not suitable for the nasal membrane.
4)

The nebulizer treatment
should promptly show a good result;  The swelling disappears within an hour in the nasal cavity and discomfort from nasal blockage is dramatically reduced. However, if sticky green mucous discharge persists, it may be due to paranasal sinusitis  and if so, more drastic treatment may be needed. Consult your ENT doctor who may prescribe you Penicillin.

5)

If you see no favorable effect of the nebulizer treatment  after a few days, see your ENT doctor. The details of the  specific antibiotics are revealed in our instruction manual on PDF  format. See Our product for an order.

6)

Ensure that nasal nebulizer does not cause an allergy reaction. The first time user should test the nebulizer for 10 seconds. Wait for 30 to 45 minutes and if there is no severe coughing or abnormal breathing, then use the nebulizer for the specified duration of time.

The antibiotic medicines should not be used in the nebulizer treatment for more than three weeks. If the symptoms persist without any
substantial improvement, discontinue using nebulizer treatment and alter the treatment method.

        3)   For Paranasal Sinusitis

Symptoms: In addition to the symptoms of acute sinusitis, suppurative nasal discharge (green sticky mucus constantly discharges from the throat and nose), nasal blockage, headache, being unable to distinguish smells.

Treatment Method:
For light cases, the above mentioned treatments in “2) For Acute Sinusitis” as well as oral intake of antibiotic medicine are required. Consult your ENT doctor.

If the symptoms are severe and chronic, surgical operations such as puncture washing may be required. Consult your ENT specialist. If the operations prove unfruitful or it is difficult to continue the recommended treatment by your doctor, however, you may have to resort to the self-treatment remedy. Read ‘4) For chronic sinusitis/rhinitis.’ You may email to us for advice.

        4)   For Chronic nasal inflammation, Chronic Paranasal Sinusitis

Symptoms include nasal congestion, suppurative or sticky mucous discharge, coughs due to the mucous discharge, headache, discomfort in the nasal membrane, bad smell of the nasal mucus and abscess. At an onset of colds, the quantity of mucus increases and the whole conditions deteriorate. The following treatment will soothe the above symptoms, but it is very difficult to cure the disease completely.

Treatment Method:

On top of conventional treatment http://eowimg.alc.co.jp/content/img/spacer.gif(the same treatment for acute sinusitis is used to control the symptoms so that they won’t deteriorate further), the gauze remedy or surgery may be necessary. If you chose not to undergo surgery, or are disappointed with the result of the operation, you may benefit from the gauze remedy treatment as well as conservative treatment method. For example, if you caught a cold, you should try to prevent deterioration by washing your nose with our nasal irrigator, combined with the nebulizer treatment.  Please read the section “Gauze Remedy” for further reference.

Often the middle-age sufferers of this chronic disease have had gone the surgery more than once.  It is very difficult to cure completely, but is possible, and I am one of those who have cured completely.  I recommend any symptoms of chronic sinusitis should be treated with the gauze remedy.

For further explanation of other sinus problems refer to your ENT specialist or search on the Internet.
